Sarafadeen Alli has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election in Oyo State.

The senator representing Oyo South secured 578,143 votes to defeat former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who polled 19,193 votes, alongside another aspirant in the contest.

Adelabu had earlier resigned from his ministerial position to participate in the governorship race.

Following the exercise, the former minister raised concerns over the conduct of the primary election, alleging that the process was manipulated in some areas.

He claimed that reports from several wards indicated various irregularities and infractions during the exercise, alleging that voting in some locations commenced earlier than scheduled and that figures were allegedly altered.

Adelabu called attention to what he described as misconduct in parts of the state, expressing dissatisfaction with the manner in which the primary election was conducted.

The outcome of the primary election has further heightened political activities within the APC in Oyo State as preparations intensify ahead of the governorship election.
