Burial arrangements for late Adesiyan Adegboye, one of the teachers killed during the coordinated attack on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, commenced on Friday at Ayegun Baptist Church in Ogbomoso.
Adegboye, aged 49, was reportedly killed during the attack carried out by armed bandits last Friday. He is expected to be laid to rest later on Friday at his residence in the Owolake area of Ogbomoso.
The late teacher, born on December 11, 1976, lost his life during the invasion of Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School; and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, where gunmen launched coordinated attacks around 9:30am.
The attacks led to the abduction of several teachers and students, throwing the affected communities into fear and confusion.
Following the incident, security agencies intensified rescue efforts aimed at securing the release of the abducted victims and tracking down those responsible for the attacks.
Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier confirmed that seven students were abducted from Community Secondary School, while 18 pupils and seven teachers were kidnapped from First Baptist Primary and Nursery School during the attacks.
He also confirmed that one person was killed in the incident.
The development sparked panic across Ogbomoso and neighbouring communities, with many worried parents rushing to schools to withdraw their children over fears of possible further attacks.
The incident has continued to generate concern among residents and stakeholders, with renewed calls for stronger security measures around schools and vulnerable communities in the state.
