The National Emergency Management Agency has distributed relief materials to residents affected by a recent rainstorm across Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola, and Iwajowa Federal Constituency in Oyo State.

The intervention was carried out by the agency’s Ibadan Operations Office as part of ongoing efforts to support communities impacted by adverse weather conditions. The distribution exercise took place at the constituency office of Najimdeen Oyedeji in Iseyin Local Government Area, where government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders gathered to oversee the process.

Representing the Head of Operations, Chief Search and Rescue Officer Ayo Abolarin conveyed the agency’s sympathy to those affected, stressing the importance of preparedness and preventive action in mitigating the impact of natural disasters. He highlighted the need for communities and relevant authorities to embrace proactive disaster risk reduction strategies to minimise future occurrences and safeguard lives and property.

The event drew the presence of representatives from several key institutions, including the Department of State Services, the Federal House of Representatives, the Oyo State Government, local government authorities, and traditional leaders. Their participation underscored the collaborative approach required in responding effectively to emergencies and providing timely assistance to victims.

Beneficiaries, who turned out in large numbers, received various relief items in an orderly and well-coordinated manner. The distribution process was closely monitored to ensure fairness and transparency, with each affected household getting its allocated support.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Akeem Alale expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. He noted that the assistance would go a long way in alleviating the hardship faced by victims of the rainstorm and helping them begin the process of recovery.
