Former Oyo State First Lady and ambassador-designate to Austria, Florence Ajimobi, has denied allegations linking her to financial inducements aimed at influencing members of the Oyo State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement issued by her media office, Ajimobi described the claims as false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to tarnish her reputation and mislead the public.
Her response follows earlier denials by some lawmakers, including Chief Whip Hon. Gbenga Oyekola and Deputy Speaker Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, who had also dismissed reports of any plot to destabilise the state government.
Ajimobi further refuted claims that she hosted or attended any meeting in Lagos or elsewhere where plans to influence the State Assembly were discussed.
“At no time did Ambassador Ajimobi convene, attend or participate in any such meeting with any individual or group for the purpose of discussing impeachment or destabilising the Oyo State Government,” the statement read.
She maintained that linking her to the allegations amounts to political propaganda intended to bring her into disrepute, particularly among the people of Oyo State.
Ajimobi also stated that the activities of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state are of no concern to her, insisting that the claims were driven by mischief and deliberate misinformation.
Reaffirming her commitment to peace and democratic values, she stressed that she has never been involved in any act capable of undermining the stability of the state.
The statement urged the public to disregard the reports, warning that the spread of false information could heighten political tension and may be subject to legal action if not withdrawn.
