The Ekiti State Police Command has presented insurance benefit cheques worth ₦9.797 million to the families and beneficiaries of police officers who died in the line of duty.
The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Michael Falade, presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.
Falade said the payment reflected the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and the families of officers who die while serving.
He said although no amount of money could replace a lost loved one, the insurance benefits would provide support for the affected families.
The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to use the funds prudently, particularly for the education and welfare of the children of the deceased officers.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mathew Emmanuel appreciated the Inspector-General of Police and the Force for the support, assuring that the funds would be used judiciously for the welfare of the families.
