The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s record and reforms as it inaugurated its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election in Abuja on Wednesday.
The event, held at the State House Conference Centre, attracted party leaders and political figures from other parties, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party and Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Tinubu urged the council to focus on securing victory in the 2027 election but said he would remain focused on governance rather than accompany the campaign team on nationwide tours. He noted that the country required his attention, adding that he would still make time to address Nigerians directly.
The President also expressed confidence that state police would become a reality and said proposed legislation on reserved seats for women would help increase female representation in the National Assembly and at other levels of government.
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda urged campaign council members to communicate the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, including roads, power, railways, ports, agriculture and digital connectivity. He said the council must explain how ongoing reforms and projects could improve Nigerians’ daily lives while acknowledging existing challenges.
Tinubu warned party members against complacency, stressing that their work would only be complete after delivering victory in the next election. He subsequently declared the campaign council inaugurated.
