Obi Calls for Justice Over Killing of Kano Commentator

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has condemned the killing of Kano-based social media commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu, and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

Dan Shagamu was killed at his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, on Monday night.

The Kano State Police Command said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the killing and were being interrogated, while forensic investigations were ongoing to determine the circumstances and motive behind the attack.

Obi said no disagreement, criticism or neighbourhood dispute should justify the taking of a human life. He urged the Kano State Government and security agencies to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

He also stressed the need to protect freedom of expression and expressed condolences to the family, friends and associates of the deceased.
