The Nigerian Army has reshuffled its senior leadership, redeploying several generals to key command and operational positions.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, approved the postings to strengthen the Army’s operational effectiveness and response to security challenges across the country.
Major General IA Ajose has been appointed Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI.
Major General AM Umar becomes Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria, while Major General GS Muhammed has been appointed Director-General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.
Major General JE Osifo is now Chairman of the Military Pension Board, while Major General RT Utsaha becomes Commander of the Defence Headquarters Garrison.
The Army also appointed Brigadier General MS Adamu as Commander of the newly established 8 Brigade and Brigadier General MS Sule as Commander of 27 Task Force Brigade.
The Army said the reshuffle was aimed at ensuring that experienced officers are deployed to critical positions to improve operations and strengthen national security.
The Chief of Army Staff charged the newly appointed officers to demonstrate professionalism, effective leadership and commitment to their duties.
