Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and newly promoted Coventry City will enter Matchday Four of the 2026/27 Premier League season still searching for their first league goals.
The three teams have endured difficult starts, although their circumstances differ.
Aston Villa have collected just one point from three matches after losing to Brighton and Arsenal before a goalless draw at Hull City.
Tottenham are also without a goal after three games under new manager Roberto De Zerbi. Spurs drew 0-0 with Brentford, lost 2-0 to Newcastle United and drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest.
They will host Everton on September 12, giving De Zerbi an opportunity to secure Tottenham’s first goal and victory of the campaign.
Coventry City have lost all three matches since returning to the Premier League. They were beaten by Arsenal, Hull City and Manchester City without scoring.
However, Frank Lampard’s side have faced two of the league’s strongest teams in Arsenal and Manchester City. Coventry will host Brighton on September 13 in what could be their best opportunity to end their scoring drought.
Villa will welcome Nottingham Forest on September 12 and will be hoping to improve their attacking fortunes.
The three clubs therefore head into Matchday Four with the same unwanted statistic but different challenges: Villa need to revive their attack, Tottenham are adapting to a new manager, while Coventry are looking to turn competitive performances into points.
