United Nigeria Airlines has grounded one of its aircraft after it was hit by a bird during landing at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

The airline said the incident occurred on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, involving an Embraer 190 aircraft operating Flight UN0523.

A post-flight inspection detected evidence of a bird strike on the aircraft’s right engine.

United Nigeria Airlines said the aircraft had been withdrawn from service for further inspection and maintenance in line with its safety procedures.

The airline added that the incident would affect its flight schedule, with some flights expected to be disrupted.

It apologised to affected passengers and assured them that support was being provided.
