Rescued NYSC Member: Kidnappers Threatened to Kill Us After One Month

A rescued NYSC member, David Ayodele, has recounted how kidnappers threatened to kill him and other abductees after holding them captive for one month in a forest in Kogi State.

Ayodele was among 15 NYSC members and six other Nigerians rescued from a kidnappers’ den in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.

He said the victims were abducted while travelling from Bayelsa State to Abuja after completing their NYSC orientation programme.

According to him, the kidnappers forced them into the bush at gunpoint and subjected them to beatings and threats.

Ayodele said the abductors warned that anyone who moved without permission would be shot, leaving the victims too frightened to move.

He said the victims were later forced to trek through the forest before Nigerian Army personnel and other security operatives arrived and rescued them.

Ayodele commended the Nigerian Army, police, Department of State Services and local hunters for their roles in the rescue operation.
