Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples Movement in Ekiti State have begun grassroots mobilisation in support of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential bid ahead of the 2027 elections.
The mobilisation began in Ado-Ekiti during an advocacy and awareness programme attended by PDP and APM members from across the state’s 16 Local Government Areas.
The convener of the alliance in Ekiti State, Lanre Fajuyi, said Makinde was being supported because the group believes he represents the leadership Nigeria needs.
She urged PDP and APM members to begin early grassroots mobilisation and strengthen the alliance ahead of the election.
PDP/APM spokesperson for the South-West, Sanya Atofarati, said the alliance was aimed at providing a viable opposition platform and preserving multi-party democracy.
APM Vice Chairman in Ekiti State, Remilekun Solola, also described the alliance as a strategic platform for building a stronger opposition ahead of 2027.
