Obi Calls for End to Killings as Fresh Attacks Claim Over 58 Lives

Peter Obi has called on the Federal Government and other authorities to take urgent action to end the persistent killings and insecurity across Nigeria.

Obi made the call while reacting to the reported killing of 32 people in Ungushi, Sokoto State, and recent attacks in Ukum, Benue State.

He described the killings as deeply painful and urged the government to improve intelligence gathering, strengthen security responses, protect vulnerable communities and prosecute perpetrators.

“Let’s end this cycle of killings,” Obi said, stressing that Nigerians should be able to live, travel and farm without fear.

His call came as fresh attacks were reported in Plateau and Adamawa states.

At least 26 people were reportedly killed when gunmen attacked Binper community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. Residents said the attackers moved from house to house, while several others were injured or remain missing.

In Adamawa State, a police inspector and seven civilians were also confirmed dead following a suspected Boko Haram attack on Gaya community in Hong Local Government Area.
