The Oyo State Government has intensified efforts to curb indiscriminate refuse dumping across Ibadan through stronger collaboration with community leaders and waste management consultants.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Ademola Aderinto, disclosed this during a meeting with Community Development Council chairmen and waste consultants.
Aderinto said the meeting was aimed at improving the implementation of the state’s house-to-house waste collection policy.
He urged CDC chairmen to mobilise residents to embrace the house-to-house collection system.
The commissioner also called on waste consultants to improve service delivery and work closely with the government and communities.
Aderinto warned against dumping refuse on road medians, open spaces and other unauthorised locations, stressing the need for cooperation among the government, service providers and residents.
He said sustained collaboration would improve environmental sanitation and ensure proper collection and disposal of household waste.
