The Nigerian Navy has recovered about 85,300 litres of suspected stolen crude oil products and deactivated two illegal refining sites in Rivers State.
The operation was carried out in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni axis under Operation Delta Sentinel, as part of ongoing efforts to combat crude oil theft and illegal refining in the Niger Delta.
Director of Information, Nigerian Navy, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, said the sites were linked to ongoing crude oil theft activities in the area.
He said the recovered products were concealed in dugout pits and reservoirs.
The Navy said the latest operation came days after similar illegal refining infrastructure was discovered and deactivated in the same area.
It added that sustained operations in identified hotspots were aimed at preventing criminal groups from reactivating illegal refining networks and protecting critical oil and gas infrastructure.
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crude oil theft and illegal refining while safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime and energy assets.
