A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a warrant for the arrest of self-proclaimed Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, after he failed to appear for his arraignment on Tuesday.
Justice Mohammed Umar ordered Adeyemi’s arrest after he was absent when his case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, was called.
Adeyemi is facing an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation. The charges, filed by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki in November 2025, also involve two other defendants.
The prosecution is expected to call several witnesses during the trial, including the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede, Ituah Sylvester, two officials of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu, as well as a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The court’s decision came a day after Adeyemi denied reports that he was evading security agencies. In a television interview, he claimed he had remained out of the public eye because of alleged threats to his life, insisting he was not in hiding.
Adeyemi also repeated his claim that he paid ₦400 million through an intermediary to secure his appointment as Director-General of the disputed council. He said those who provided the funds had since petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the transaction.
Police investigations into the alleged PFIPC fraud began after the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over the circulation of forged appointment letters purportedly issued from the office.
Investigators alleged that the forged documents contained fake signatures, reference numbers, official seals and the Nigerian Coat of Arms, creating the false impression that the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council was a legitimate Federal Government agency.
Police further alleged that Adeyemi operated from an office within the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja while presenting himself as the council’s Director-General.
Despite the allegations, Adeyemi has maintained that the PFIPC is a legitimate organisation and has called for an independent investigation into the controversy surrounding the agency and its reported allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
