The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has praised the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for their sustained efforts in combating terrorism and rescuing abducted school pupils from bandits in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The monarch gave the commendation on Monday during a visit to the rescued pupils at the Odogbo Military Cantonment in Ojoo, Ibadan, where they are receiving medical treatment following their release after weeks in captivity.
Oba Owoade lauded the military’s commitment to tackling insecurity through intelligence-driven operations and precision tactics, saying the security agencies have continued to record significant successes against criminal groups.
He noted that the recent rescue operation demonstrated the effectiveness of coordinated security efforts in disrupting terrorist and bandit networks operating in the country.
During the visit, the Alaafin donated cash to the rescued pupils as a gesture of support and encouragement while wishing them a speedy recovery.
The traditional ruler also commended fellow monarchs for their unwavering efforts and support throughout the period the victims were held captive, describing their commitment as instrumental in sustaining hope for the safe return of the pupils.
