Governor Seyi Makinde has announced a statewide ban on night-time commercial motorcycle (Okada) operations between 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. in response to the recent abduction incident in Oriire Local Government Area. The governor said the directive forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen security across Oyo State, limit the movement of criminal elements, and enhance the effectiveness of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes. According to him, restricting motorcycle operations during the late-night hours will help improve surveillance, reduce opportunities for criminal activities, and contribute to the safety of residents throughout the state.
