Three appointees in the administration of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde have resigned their appointments.
They are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana.
Ojo announced his resignation in a letter to the Governor dated Monday, November 2, 2026, effective the same day.
“I respectfully write to formally resign my appointment as Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, with effect from today, 2nd November, 2026,” the letter reads. Ojo did not give a reason for his decision. Oyeleke also tendered his resignation with immediate effect.
A former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and former local government chairman, the Special Adviser said he was no longer comfortable with the working environment in the administration, describing it as unsuitable for pursuing the aspirations of his people.
He nonetheless thanked Governor Makinde for his leadership, encouragement and support, and for the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and development programmes.
The third resignation came from Falana, a member of OYSIEC from Ogbomoso, in a letter addressed to the Governor through the Chief of Staff.
Falana thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve on the state’s electoral body and described his time there as worthwhile, but did not give a reason for leaving.
A few weeks ago, specifically Monday October 12, 2026, a key cabinet member and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi suddenly resigned from Makinde’s administration.
The resignations come amid fresh political developments in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Oyo State Government has yet to issue an official statement on the departures.
