On Monday, employees of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), supported by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), began an indefinite general strike in front of the National Labor Court to protest unresolved labor disputes.

The demonstration followed a directive from the NLC, which expressed its full support for the movement and deemed it justified. The union accuses the FCTA administration and its political leaders of ongoing violations of workers’ rights and the failure to meet long-standing demands.

During the demonstration, the workers blocked access to the court, chanted slogans of solidarity, and demanded urgent action. Protesters’ signs displayed slogans such as “Wike must go!”, “Abuja is not Rivers!”, “Pay the outstanding promotions!”, “Enough is enough!”, and “No tools for work!”

The workers insist that the strike will continue until their demands, including the payment of outstanding promotion wages and the provision of adequate working equipment, are met.
