The Nigerian Army has relocated the tactical headquarters of Operation Enduring Peace, also known as Operation Safe Haven, from Jos to Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State following renewed attacks in the area.

The relocation comes after a recent attack on Binper Village in Mangu, where more than 25 people were killed.

Speaking during the relocation on Wednesday, Commander of Operation Enduring Peace and General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Williams Dangana, said the move would improve response to security threats.

Dangana said the presence in Mangu would allow commanders to assess the security situation directly and respond more quickly to threats.

He disclosed that the operation had received additional troops, equipment and logistics following approval by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

The military has also launched Operation Hard Nut, a new initiative aimed at dismantling armed groups and restoring security in Mangu and neighbouring communities.

Dangana assured residents that troops would maintain a sustained presence in the area to clear hostile elements and protect residents.

The military expects the relocation to strengthen security operations in Mangu and adjoining communities.
