Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has ordered the immediate dismissal of Ms. Tinyan Otuomagie as CEO of New Edo Line Transport Services Limited.

This decision was announced in a statement issued by the State Minister of Transport, Uwuilekhue Saturday Idehen, in Benin City on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Following the dismissal, the Governor appointed Mr. Smart Aigbodion, the Maintenance Director, as the acting CEO of the public transport company until a new CEO is appointed.

Governor Okpebholo also ordered the transfer of the former CEO to the Ministry of Information, where she may be assigned further duties by the State Government.

While no official reason was given for the dismissal, it is part of the Okpebholo administration’s ongoing efforts to restructure large state-owned enterprises and improve service quality in key sectors.

New Edo Line Transport Services Limited, established by the previous administration to restore public transportation in Edo State, faced operational challenges, including issues with vehicle maintenance, a limited route network, and efficiency problems. The transportation company plays a strategic role in travel both within and outside of Edo State.

According to transportation sector sources, the appointment of an interim general manager from the maintenance department may indicate a desire to focus more on vehicle maintenance, operational efficiency, and reliability.

The state government has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to transparency, performance-based leadership, and reforms to strengthen public institutions. Officials indicate that further restructuring and policy adjustments may follow as part of broader transportation sector reforms.

This announcement is effective immediately. Stakeholders should closely monitor the impact of this policy shift on New Edo Line operations in the coming weeks.
