Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star Davido has officially announced his decision to join the Accord Party, aligning with his uncle and Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.
The singer made the announcement via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that he would be in Osun State to collect his party membership card at Imole House in Osogbo, the state capital.
“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ Imole House, Osogbo, tomorrow. See you soon accordingly,” Davido wrote, tagging Governor Adeleke in the post.
Davido’s move comes barely two weeks after Governor Adeleke formally adopted the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The governor had earlier announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing a leadership crisis at the party’s national level. He explained that the decision followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.
“I joined the Accord Party as a platform to seek re-election in 2026 after weeks of deliberation and consultation,” Adeleke had said.
Davido’s entry into the Accord Party has since generated widespread reactions, with supporters viewing it as a significant boost to the party’s growing profile in Osun State.
