The management of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, has dismissed reports claiming the institution was under attack, describing the circulating social media photo as false and malicious.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Public and Alumni Relations, Opeyemi Olawore, the institution clarified that the viral image showing alleged militants at the school gate was artificially generated and intended to cause panic.
“The attention of the management has been drawn to an AI-generated picture showing militants at the entrance of OYSCATECH,” the statement said. “The management condemns the false and misleading image circulating online, which is capable of causing unnecessary fear within the community.”
The school urged members of the public, including parents, students and residents of Igboora and the Ibarapa axis, to disregard the post, describing those behind it as “mischief makers with unknown motives.”
The statement emphasized that the college remains safe, peaceful and fully operational.
“For the records, OYSCATECH and its environs are not under any siege. Students are attending lectures and carrying out their normal activities,” it added.
The management also noted that the institution recently held its matriculation ceremony for degree students on November 28, 2025, which attracted parents and visitors from within and outside the state—further underscoring the peaceful environment.
It warned individuals circulating the fake image to desist, adding that anyone found spreading misinformation would face legal consequences.
