The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has dismissed social media reports claiming the institution was shut down following an alleged invasion by bandits.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dapo Oke, the university described the circulating reports as false, malicious, and intended to incite fear within the campus and surrounding communities.
According to the statement, neither the Ijagun nor the Ijebu-Ode campus experienced any form of security breach, contrary to claims that the alleged closure was linked to a “bandit invasion” of Ijebu-Ode.
“We wish to put it on record that at no time did the University Management order the closure of the institution or direct students to vacate their hostels in Ijagun or Ijebu-Ode as a result of any form of invasion,” the statement read.
TASUED reassured students, staff, parents, alumni, and the general public that academic and administrative activities are ongoing without interruption, adding that both campuses remain safe and peaceful.
The management urged members of the university community to rely only on official communication channels for verified information and cautioned against spreading unverified claims capable of causing panic.
“Staff and students are hereby encouraged to go about their academic and lawful duties peacefully,” the statement added.
