The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a warning to the public over a fraudulent message circulating online, falsely claiming that the NELFUND Student Loan Registration Portal is currently open.
The misleading message directs unsuspecting applicants to a third-party link — http://gvly.xyz/Nelfund-Student-Loan — which the agency has confirmed is unauthorised and fraudulent.
In a post shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, NELFUND urged students and the general public to avoid clicking the link or submitting any personal information, stressing that the official loan registration portal can only be accessed through its verified platforms.
The Fund also reminded applicants to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious links or communications purporting to originate from NELFUND.
“Applicants are encouraged to always verify official announcements via NELFUND’s official website and social media channels,” the agency stated.
The advisory forms part of NELFUND’s ongoing efforts to protect students from online scams and to maintain the integrity of the student loan application process.
