The National Assembly has officially declined Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s attempt to resume her legislative duties, citing that her six-month suspension remains active pending a ruling from the Court of Appeal.

In a letter dated September 4, 2025, and signed by the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Senate acknowledged receiving Akpoti-Uduaghan’s notice of intent to return on the same date, which she claimed marked the end of her suspension period.

However, the Senate clarified that the suspension commenced on March 6, 2025, and emphasized that the issue remains subjudice. As such, no administrative steps can be taken until the appellate court delivers its judgment.

The letter further stated that any review of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension will only occur after the court’s decision is announced.
