The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has assured that his government is in control of the security situation in the state following the killing of over 50 people by gunmen in Zikke village, Bassa Local Government Area.

Governor Mutfwang gave the assurance shortly after an expanded emergency State Security Council meeting in response to the deadly attacks in the state.

“We have received detailed briefings from the heads of the various security agencies regarding the incident. We are working diligently to establish exactly what happened and why, so that we can respond appropriately and prevent such incidents in the future,” the governor said.

The Governor expressed deep sorrow over the attacks and sympathized with the affected families and communities, pledging his commitment to end the senseless killings in the State.

Mutfwang’s statement followed President Bola Tinubu’s condemnation of the ongoing wave of killings across Plateau communities.
