Three appointees of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde have resigned from their positions amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The officials are the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Ojo; Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Adegbola Oyeleke; and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Sunday Falana.

Ojo announced his resignation in a letter dated November 2, addressed to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde. He said his resignation takes immediate effect but did not state his reason for leaving.

Oyeleke, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and former council chairman, also resigned, citing dissatisfaction with the working environment in the administration. He said the circumstances had made it difficult for him to effectively pursue the aspirations of his people while serving in government.

Falana, who hails from Ogbomoso, announced his immediate resignation from OYSIEC in a letter to the governor through the Chief of Staff. He did not disclose his reason but described his time on the electoral body as worthwhile.

The latest resignations come weeks after the departure of former Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, and former Director-General of the Due Process Office, Tara Adefope. Several other appointees have also left the administration in recent months.

Reacting to the development, the Director-General of the Bimbo Adekanmbi Campaign Council, Yinka Oladoyinbo, said the resignations would not affect the chances of the Allied Peoples Movement in the 2027 governorship election. He described the movement of politicians between parties as part of the political process, insisting that voters would determine the outcome of the election.

The development comes as OYSIEC prepares for the December 29, 2026 local government elections across the state’s 33 local government areas.
