The All Progressives Congress Media Network (APCMN) has criticised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde over what it described as poor attendance at a town hall meeting organised by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the group’s Acting Director-General, Uwem Bassey, described the meeting as a failure, claiming that the turnout reflected limited support for Makinde’s reported presidential ambition.

The APC group also claimed that Akwa Ibom remained firmly behind the APC and President Bola Tinubu, attributing the party’s support in the state to the administration’s economic reforms and the popularity of Governor Umo Eno.

It further accused Makinde of creating divisions within his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and alleged that he was bringing similar disagreements into the APM.

The group cited a reported vote of no confidence by some APM state chairmen in the South-South region as evidence of internal disagreements within the party.

The APCMN also accused the meeting’s organisers of shifting their focus to criticism of President Tinubu instead of using the gathering to engage residents on their political plans.

The claims and criticisms were made by the APC-affiliated group in its statement.
