The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has assured Nigerians that police officers will demonstrate professionalism before, during and after the 2027 general elections.

Disu gave the assurance after a meeting with commissioners of police and other senior officers, where the force reviewed lessons from recent elections to improve its performance in the forthcoming polls.

He said the police were committed to conducting themselves in a manner that would earn public confidence and make Nigerians proud of the force.

The IGP spoke at the launch of The Origin of Women in Nigeria Police Force, written by 96-year-old retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dame Stella Okuyiga, one of the pioneer female officers who joined the force in 1955.

Disu said the book would be made available to police training institutions to preserve the force’s history and inspire future generations. Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Dagogo Wokama, launched the book with a donation of ₦20 million.
