The Yobe State House of Assembly has pledged increased budgetary support for Yobe State University and promised to facilitate interventions from relevant development agencies.

The Speaker, Chiroma Mashio, made the commitment when the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Tahir, led the management team on a visit to the Assembly. He said the university would be invited to participate in the 2027 budget defence to present its funding and development needs.

Mashio also pledged to support the university in accessing interventions from agencies including the Tertiary Education Trust Fund and other development partners. The Vice-Chancellor said the institution had introduced six new postgraduate programmes, established a Faculty of Computing and sponsored staff and medical doctors for postgraduate training.
