The Ekiti State Government has urged residents to maintain personal and environmental hygiene and undergo regular medical check-ups to prevent diseases and detect health conditions early.

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, gave the advice in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday while flagging off a three-day health awareness and medical outreach.

Filani urged residents not to wait until they become seriously ill before seeking medical attention, stressing the importance of knowing their health status.

He also encouraged residents to take advantage of the free screening services provided during the outreach.

The Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Prof Kayode Olabanji, advised residents to keep their surroundings clean, wash their hands regularly, use hygienic toilets, protect food and water, and properly dispose of waste.

The outreach includes free blood pressure and blood sugar checks, eye tests and distribution of drugs.
