The Federal Government has given ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) until September 18, 2026, to submit their 2027 personnel budget proposals.

The deadline was contained in a circular issued by the Budget Office of the Federation as part of preparations for the 2027 budget, which the government plans to present to the National Assembly in September.

MDAs are required to submit hard and soft copies of their proposals by 4pm on Friday, September 18, alongside the laws establishing their agencies.

The Budget Office said the requirement is aimed at preventing the inclusion of unrecognised or non-existent agencies in the federal budget.

The new guidelines also require MDAs to validate their payrolls against government payroll systems and prohibit unauthorised recruitment and payments.

The government said it would introduce a centralised personnel cost monitoring system to track expenditure against approved budget provisions.

The measures are part of efforts to strengthen budget preparation and improve personnel expenditure management.
