Ballon d’Or 2026: Top 10 Contenders After Shortlist

The race for the 2026 Ballon d’Or has intensified following the release of the shortlist, with the winner expected to be announced in October.

Harry Kane leads the latest ranking after an outstanding season with Bayern Munich and England. The striker scored 61 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern and also played a key role in England’s World Cup campaign.

Barcelona midfielder Rodri is ranked second after helping Spain win the World Cup. He was a central figure in Spain’s successful campaign and remains one of the leading midfielders in world football.

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé occupies third place after scoring 40 goals in 42 appearances across La Liga and the Champions League. He also won the World Cup Golden Boot, although Real Madrid’s lack of major team success could affect his chances.

Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal is fourth after registering 41 goal contributions in 45 appearances. Despite an injury-affected World Cup campaign, his performances for Barcelona have kept him among the leading contenders.
