Five major supporters’ clubs in Nigeria have called for formal recognition as key stakeholders in the administration and development of Nigerian football.
The groups — Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Super Eagles Supporters Club, Football Fans Club of Nigeria, All Sports Supporters Club and Nigeria Eagles Supporters Club — made the demand after a meeting at the National Stadium in Lagos.
In a joint statement, the clubs expressed support for ongoing reforms in Nigerian football and urged the Federal Government and relevant authorities to ensure that supporters’ clubs are included in the reform process.
They called for a review of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Statute to clearly define the rights and representation of supporters’ clubs, including the restoration of their representation in the NFF Electoral Congress.
The clubs said football reforms should be broad-based and consultative, stressing that supporters are an essential part of the development of the game.
As part of efforts to strengthen their structure, the clubs established a four-member Constitution Drafting Committee and a five-member Electoral Committee.
The Electoral Committee was given a three-month mandate to organise a credible election for the supporters’ clubs in the first week of December 2026.
The groups pledged their support for genuine football reforms and called on all stakeholders to work together to improve the performance of Nigeria’s national teams.
