Yoruba Nation activist and founder of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has pledged to sustain efforts against kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements in the South-West.

Igboho made the declaration on Thursday during the launch of Iru Ekun in Akure, Ondo State, saying improved security in the region required the collective efforts of residents, security agencies and other stakeholders.

He attributed the reported reduction in kidnapping, banditry and farmers-herders clashes in parts of the South-West to the support provided to the security network by the Police, military and Department of State Services.

Igboho urged members of the network to work with established security agencies and report criminal activities before taking action.

He said the group would continue working to make forests, highways and rural communities across the South-West safer, while urging members to avoid actions that could put their lives at unnecessary risk.

Meanwhile, the Deji of Akure, Oba Adetoyinbo Aladelusi, and the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin, have expressed support for the security initiative and called on residents to cooperate with security agencies.
