Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged Muslims across the state to uphold the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as they celebrate the annual Takutaha Maulud.

The governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, called on Muslims to promote peace, compassion, justice, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Yusuf described Takutaha as an important religious and cultural tradition that provides an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the life and teachings of the Prophet.

He urged residents to sustain the spirit of unity and brotherhood associated with the celebration and use the occasion to strengthen relationships across communities.

The governor also encouraged younger generations to learn about and preserve Kano’s religious and cultural heritage.

He assured residents that his administration would continue to support initiatives that promote the state’s history, culture and religious values.
