The Students’ Union Government of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, has demanded clarification over the reported rescue of National Youth Service Corps members abducted in Kogi State.

The union said conflicting reports about the victims had raised concerns among their families and called for clear information on those reportedly rescued.

The Kogi State Police Command had confirmed that 11 victims were rescued after armed men attacked two buses along the Aloma–Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, Salisu Oyiza Afusat, said most of the rescued victims were NYSC members travelling from Bayelsa State to Abuja.

It urged the police, NYSC and other relevant authorities to verify the identities of the rescued victims and provide an update on anyone still in captivity.

Meanwhile, the police said security operations were continuing in the surrounding forests to rescue any remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
