The commitment was made when the Commander, Headquarters Sector 2, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Edet Effiong, received the newly posted Yobe State Comptroller of the NIS, Comptroller IZ Abubakar, during a visit to the Sector Headquarters in Damaturu.

Effiong stressed the need for effective information sharing, coordinated border surveillance and closer engagement with border communities to tackle terrorism, human trafficking, smuggling and irregular migration.

He said stronger coordination and the use of technology would improve border monitoring and operational effectiveness, adding that Operation HADIN KAI was ready to support closer cooperation with the Immigration Service.

Abubakar, in response, pledged to deepen the existing partnership with the Army, strengthen personnel capacity and improve border surveillance and migration control across the state.

Both officials agreed to enhance coordination and intelligence sharing to secure Nigeria’s borders and protect border communities across Yobe and the wider North-East.
