Tinubu to Review State Police Bill September 3

President Bola Tinubu will review the Executive National Policing Bill on September 3, 2026.

The Chief of Staff to the President and Chairman of the Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill, Femi Gbajabiamila, disclosed this on Monday.

He also announced the launch of a public portal for Nigerians to submit memoranda and position papers on the proposed legislation.

Gbajabiamila said the consultation would take place before the bill is finalised and transmitted to the National Assembly.

He added that the proposed state police system would include safeguards against political abuse.

The constitutional amendment on state police has been passed by both chambers of the National Assembly but is yet to take effect, pending approval by the required number of state Houses of Assembly.
