President Bola Tinubu has invited China to partner with Nigeria in developing the country’s marine economy through technical cooperation and the sharing of geophysical data.

The invitation was conveyed by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, at a United Nations Sustainable Development Workshop in Beijing.

Speaking on behalf of Tinubu, Ibrahim said Nigeria needed Chinese expertise, technology and geophysical data to better understand and develop its marine resources.

He said the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy reflected the Federal Government’s commitment to the sector.

Ibrahim said Nigeria was ready for deeper cooperation with China to unlock the potential of its blue economy.
