The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned prospective corps members that they will not be mobilised for national service without obtaining clearance from the National Electronic Registration Database (NERD).

The scheme issued the warning on Monday as preparations intensify for the mobilisation of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ prospective corps members.

In a notice shared on its official X account, the NYSC described NERD clearance as compulsory for all prospective corps members and urged them to complete the process early to avoid delays.

“Without NERD clearance, no NYSC. Get your NERD clearance early. Avoid delays in your mobilisation,” the scheme stated.

The NYSC further stressed that failure to obtain the clearance could prevent eligible graduates from being mobilised for the national service programme.

The latest directive comes as the scheme begins preparations for the next orientation exercise and strengthens its verification procedures for prospective corps members.

The NYSC has also recently warned prospective corps members to prioritise their safety while travelling to orientation camps, advising them to avoid night journeys and seek safe accommodation where necessary.

The scheme urged all prospective corps members to complete their registration, verification and other required documentation, including the NERD clearance, before reporting to orientation camps.
