There was momentary panic in Osun State on Wednesday after a podium collapsed during a political rally in Ijebu-Jesa, where Governor Ademola Adeleke and other dignitaries were seated.
The incident occurred while activities were ongoing at the event, causing a brief disruption to the programme.
Governor Adeleke, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly Adewale Egbedun, and other government officials were on the platform when it suddenly gave way.
Witnesses said security personnel quickly intervened, evacuating those affected from the collapsed structure.
The rally, which was organised for the inauguration of canvassers in the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, was temporarily halted following the incident.
However, no casualties or injuries were recorded, and the programme later resumed after safety checks were carried out.
Officials at the event confirmed that Governor Adeleke subsequently addressed the gathering and continued with other scheduled engagements after leaving the venue.
The state government also assured the public that the incident was not as serious as initially feared, noting that all officials involved were safe and unharmed.
The rally proceeded successfully after the disruption, with attendees continuing the event without further incidents.
