Seyi Makinde has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement.

The Oyo State governor made the announcement during a political rally held at Mapo Hall on Wednesday amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking before supporters and party loyalists, Makinde formally unveiled his presidential ambition, declaring his readiness to seek the nation’s highest office.

The declaration came shortly after a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, led by former Minister Taminu Turaki, entered into a strategic alliance with the APM.

As part of the agreement, representatives of both political parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections. Makinde signed on behalf of the PDP faction, while Yusuf Dantalle signed for the APM.

Under the alliance arrangement, candidates aligned with the PDP faction in Oyo State are expected to contest the 2027 governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections on the APM platform.

The development is expected to reshape the political landscape in Oyo State and could signal broader political realignments ahead of the next general elections.
