A middle-aged woman, identified as Oluwasola Adebayo, has died after reportedly collapsing while accompanying her child to a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) centre in Ilara-Mokin, located in Ifedore Local Government Area.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday and has left residents of the quiet community in shock. Eyewitnesses said the woman began to show signs of weakness shortly after arriving near the examination venue. Moments later, she reportedly slumped, prompting panic among bystanders and other parents who had gathered outside the centre.

Efforts were made by those present to revive her, but she was unfortunately confirmed dead at the scene. The sudden nature of her collapse created a tense and emotional atmosphere, as concerned onlookers struggled to comprehend what had just happened.

At the time of the incident, her child was inside the examination hall writing the UTME, unaware of the unfolding tragedy outside. The situation added to the emotional weight of the moment, as many described it as a deeply heartbreaking occurrence.

The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that authorities were alerted to the sudden death. Following standard procedures, the family of the deceased was contacted, and her remains were subsequently released to a relative after proper identification.

While the exact cause of her death has not yet been officially determined, the incident has sparked concern among residents, with some calling for greater awareness around health emergencies, especially during physically and emotionally demanding situations.

The unfortunate event has cast a shadow over the ongoing UTME exercise in the area, turning what should have been a routine academic activity into a moment of grief for the community. Residents and sympathisers have continued to express condolences to the bereaved family, describing the loss as both sudden and painful.

Authorities are expected to continue necessary inquiries, while the community reflects on the incident and its impact on those affected.
