Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has advised Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to tread carefully in the exercise of power, reminding him that his tenure is temporary.

Fayose gave the warning on Tuesday while addressing journalists during a visit to the residence of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, in the Bodija area of Ibadan.

The former governor reiterated his claim that there were plans to dethrone the monarch, insisting that such moves would not succeed.

He stressed that while political offices are governed by constitutional limits, traditional institutions like the Olubadan stool are rooted in divine authority and destiny.

“I said what I said. The Olubadan has an eternal tenure with God. I was once a governor. Your tenure is tied to the Constitution of Nigeria, but the Olubadan’s tenure is tied to God,” Fayose stated.

He urged those in power to remember that their time in office is limited, noting that the monarch would outlive successive administrations.

Fayose also declared his solidarity with the Olubadan, encouraging the monarch to ignore distractions and remain focused on his role.

“I have come to identify with you. Ignore the noise and distractions. If they need your counsel, they should come to you,” he added.

The visit comes amid ongoing controversy over alleged plans to remove the Olubadan, a claim that has been denied by the Oyo State Government and the palace.
