The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in the fight against money laundering, smuggling, and other economic crimes.

This renewed partnership was solidified during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Customs Area Controller for the Oyo and Osun Area Command, Comptroller G.I. Aliyu, to the Acting Director of the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Office, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Hauwa Ringim.

Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Aliyu emphasized the shared responsibilities of both agencies in combating economic crimes. He described the visit as strategic in enhancing existing cooperation, stating that the synergy between the NCS and EFCC is crucial in tackling issues such as illicit financial flows, trade-based money laundering, and enforcement of fiscal policies.

Aliyu highlighted the commitment of the NCS to deepening inter-agency partnerships through intelligence sharing, capacity building, and transparent communication. According to him, such collaboration is essential to curbing economic sabotage and boosting national revenue.

He also praised the leadership of the EFCC for its achievements in asset recovery, enforcement, prevention, and public sensitization efforts, noting that the Commission’s integrity and professionalism align with the values of the NCS.

In her remarks, Ringim welcomed the initiative and described the visit as a significant step toward achieving the shared goals of both agencies. She expressed the EFCC’s readiness to engage in strategic partnerships, joint task forces, and intelligence sharing, all geared toward strengthening the national economy and enhancing financial security.
