The Nigerian Army has declared a three-day mourning period to honor the 17 soldiers who lost their lives in an attack on them in Kwana Dutse Local Government Area of Niger State.
The attack, which has shocked the nation, involved a coordinated assault by gunmen on military bases in both Niger and Kaduna states, resulting in the tragic loss of the soldiers’ lives.
In a statement made available on the army’s official website and social media account on X platform on Friday, the Nigerian Army said “the mourning period will run from June 25 to 27, 2025, as a mark of respect and gratitude to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the defense of the nation
The statement of the Nigerian Army also confirmed the deaths of soldiers as a result of attacks by gunmen on military bases in Niger and Kaduna states.
The gesture is intended to show respect and appreciation for the fallen soldiers who gave their lives in defense of the country.
The statement confirmed the fatalities and directed all army personnel to observe the mourning period in tribute to their fallen comrades.
