EXPLOSION ROCKS TRANS NIGER PIPELINE IN RIVERS STATE

An explosion has struck a section of the Trans Niger Pipeline in Bodo Community, located in the Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident occurred late hours of yesterday near the ongoing Bodo-Bonny Road construction site.

A video that emerged this morning showed thick black smoke rising into the sky as a fierce fire quickly spread through the surrounding areas.

Authorities have yet to determine whether the incident resulted from human interference, especially amid recent threats by militant groups to attack oil installations in response to the Federal Government’s withholding of Rivers State’s allocation due to the ongoing political crisis.
